Our Weekend Adventures

Kitten cuddling and Jackie Chan. The perfect combination.

This weekend:
-Karl brought me home tulips. They're my favorite. I love him.
-We went on a date to Paradise Bakery and the dollar theater. The Adjustment Bureau is seriously so good.
-We went to a giant event put on by Petsmart and The Humane Society of Utah. They had tons of dogs and cats from all over The Valley on display. Some animals were so sad.
-I may have cried, hearing the awful stories of what these animals have been through.
-We played with a few different kitties but came home with one. Her name is still up for negotiation. I just call  her Kitten.
-I now have about 1,000 kitten scratches from her rambunctious playing in the middle of the night. Also, the tulips Karl bought me? She's been sneaking them carefully out of the vase one by one and tearing them apart. The remaining flowers in the vase are slightly shredded.
-We babysat our niece, Ember. She's the cutest.
-We watched Shanghai Nights. Gotta love Jackie Chan. And Owen Wilson for that matter.
-Stratton and Stacie made an impromptu visit to bring us Choco Tacos. They are saints.
-We rearranged our bedroom. I feel much better about it.
-We cuddled our kitten more than is entirely necessary. I hope Karl will be as cute with our children as he is with our kitten.

We had a super fun, super relaxing weekend. I feel great about adopting a poor little kitty with no home. I think she topped it off to be the perfect weekend. How was your weekend, lovely?

I love my kitty entirely too much...and I am going to offer the dreaded "advice."
If you are going to de-claw her, do it NOW. My vet-tech former roommate explained it to me like this: Imagine growing up without the part of your finger from your top joint up. You'd be used to it. But imagine having that joint up removed as an adult - pretty traumatizing. Kitties take to de-clawing a lot better when they are less than a year old.

I adopted my kitty as an adult, so we have friends with "Soft Paws" - kitty nail covers. Everyone thinks this is hilarious because they are whatever color you choose, I choose purple, and they think I paint my cat's claws. This saves my skin and my furniture. I clip her back claws. "Soft paws" and nail clipping probably wouldn't work for a non-mellow kitty though.

Anyway...I love your new baby and can't wait for all the cute kitty photos:-) Nothing like holding a purring, unconditionally loving kitty on a bad day...or a good day for that matter:-)

PS...you have to name the baby! Too many cats out there are named "kitty" or "kitten" or "cat." Zoey? Resolution - Rez for short? Shark? lol. Anything, just please give the lil thing justice enough to have a name!

Thanks to both of you!
Larissa- We don't plan on getting her declawed, but thanks for the advice. That would be traumatizing!
